When I one day manage to leave Latin America, surely I'm going to miss about a thousand precious things (Adelina, Adriana, Alejandra, Alicia, Alma, Amalia, Amanda, Angela, Angelina, Anita, Antonina, Beatriz, Belinda, Carmen, Claudia... and so on). No, seriously, it will be very hard for me to seat my ass on an intercontinental flight. I have learned to love the countries down here so much, not just it's people, culture, history, attractions, celebrations, cities and amazing natural wonders, but also it's varied cuisine. I could easily have been more adventurous, maybe not opting for pizza, pasta and burgers so often. But I also think I have tried quite a bit of what's on offer down here. I'll surely miss the seafood; ceviche, cheap lobster, mariscos paella, weirdly named fish dishes, marinated turtle (kidding), dolphin fillet (ehh, kidding again). I'll miss the big fat juicy steaks, the rodizio in Brazil, the tenedor libre in Agentina, parilla/asado, aji de gallina, pique macho, gallo pinto (...well, maybe not that much), lomo saltado, papa la huancaina, moqueca, empanadas, the Venezuelan termite salsa to name a few. I'll also miss the fruit juices, especially maracuyá and a dozen other weird looking fruits I have never ever seen or heard about before (many of them endemic Colombian fruits).

However, what I didn't think I'll miss, was a soft drink. I didn't drink much soft drinks before my trip started, but must admit that I now have gotten completely hooked on Guaraná. It's easily the best soft drink ever, but they only seem to sell it in Brazil. So maybe I should just start importing it, and I'll surely be sorted from now until my final snooze hour.

My brother and I are now in Florianópolis, one of our very last beach stops. Next we'll head inland towards Iguazu Falls.
