I'm back in Cali, who would have thought so? It wasn't really the plan, but being in Quito I realized it was only a 15 hours bus ride or so to make full circle down here. Not that that was the main reason. I really liked Colombia when I visited a few months ago. In fact it is one of my favorite countries so far on the trip. So why not come back and show the country (at least some of it's cities) to my brother as well. We'll probably visit Medellin (I missed it last time), and may also go to Cartagena and/or Bogotá. It will mean fewer days along the coast of Brazil, but it's not like it is a bad substitute.
Cali is maybe not the nicest city out there, but I still like it. And being a relatively big city, I found the people living here both curious and extremely friendly. Another reason to come back is Chipichape, an outdoors shopping mall with cinemas, bars and restaurants. A shopping center may not sound like much of a reason to visit a city, but last time I was here I found Chipichape to be one of the finest there is. Mainly because of it's great people watching potential. Hardly ever have I been to a better place where you can enjoy a beer while watching unbelievably beautiful girls (yes, that translates to people watching in my book). So, in my opinion, that's a reason good enough to visit a city. And when it also made full circle, we didn't really have an option. We had to visit, it was unavoidable. So that's what we do, we spend the days idling in the city and the nights partying until dawn.
