I'm back in Puno for a day, and it's bloody freezing at night. Just like it was when I was here three years ago. The only reason I am stopping on my way to Cuzco, is because I want to visit the Floating Islands of the Uros, out in Lake Titicaca. By many considered one of the biggest tourist traps in South America. That may very well be true, but I still want to see them, as I missed them the last time I was here (I find it funny that I have been to Puno twice, but never to cities like Rome, Barcelona or Prague). And as I said, it's freezing cold here. In fact it's been mostly cold nights and warm days for a few months now (more or less since I was in Paraguay back in early April), and I am starting to long for some warmer climates as well as beaches. The last beach I visited was in Rio (excluding Easter Island), so it's about time soon. I am far from complaining, but it's the only negative thing I can say about my chosen route around Latin America. The first half of the trip was basically beaches and jungle with hot and humid weather, while the last part has been mountains and winter climates. Wouldn't hurt with a bit more variety. In fact I have met quite a few people on this trip who have changed their so-called plans heading up and down the Andes chain, and instead turned right (or left) for Samba nights in Brazil. "We can't stand the cold weather anymore!" And I may join them soon. It's highly likely that my younger brother will come and meet me in Quito, Ecuador, in early October (he just needs to get his finger out and book the flight). We will then do a week or two in Ecuador (hopefully including the Galapagos Islands) before we will also head for tropical nights. Most likely we'll go to the coast of Brazil for a couple of months, before heading home to Norway together for Christmas. We'll probably fly home from either Rio, Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires, but nothing is decided yet. I hope it works out, as I am looking forward to the company of my younger brother for a couple of months. And if it works out, I won't make New Zealand and South-East Asia on this so-called Round The World trip. At least not before Christmas..., as it's not like I'll stop travelling after close to 15 months in Latin America.

What about the Floating Islands of the Uros you say? Well, been there done that!
