So I have already spent close to a month in Bolivia (the maximum time you can stay without a tourist card extension), and it's time for me to leave for Peru. The time has practically flown by, although I haven't really done that much. It's been a nice and relaxing month in a wonderful country, although I could easily have been a bit more active during my stay. After almost 11 months on the road, I have gone from the "eager happy trigger snappy backpacker" to the "business class backpacker" (back in Mendoza), and now I think I have taken it one step further. I've become "the extremely lazy package tourist". Well, it's maybe not that bad, but I must admit that it's easy to do nothing up here in the altitude.

I'm back (I was here three years ago) in the touristy town of Copacabana (not that Copacabana), on the south-eastern shore of Lake Titicaca. I spend a couple of days visiting Isla del Sol as well as the city itself. It's a really nice place, and I am a bit sad to leave Bolivia already. There's so much more stuff I could have done in this kick-ass country. As you know I missed out on Noel Kempff Mercado National Park. I also missed out on Sajama National Park that's adjoining Lauca National Park in northern Chile. Lauca, apparently a real gem of a National Park, and one of the best in Chile. Not many people go there, as it's so far from other main attractions in Chile. And people who visit Bolivia, typically don't know that it is an easy few hours drive there from La Paz (including me). I just found out in fact, but now I am in Copacabana, and decide to give it all a miss. Maybe next time, as now I am off to Peru...
