I have mainly done shorter trips before, usually three weeks or so, and always envy all the people I meet who say they are traveling for a year or even longer. Now I am the one who get all the envy. Only about two months into a year long trip. So much time left, so many places to go and things to see. Yehaa!! For people who have ever wanted to do a similar trip, all I can say is; Just do it! I don't think you find many people out there who will say they regret making a Round the World Trip. Not doing it however, when it's something you really want, is a big mistake in my opinion and sure to make many regrets later on. That goes for everything in life I guess. So stop making excuses unless you have some really big commitments at home. It's not that difficult to execute and doesn't have to cost that much. You can surely make it a lot cheaper than my budget, and it is very likely to cost much less than what you spend in one year at home. Typically you wont have an income however, but hey, just start saving now and stop buying all those CD's and DVD's. I guess all I want to say is, don't blame me when you are old, and possibly grumpy (he he), because you never took the plunge and got out of that rusty armchair
Currently I am in Monteverde, most famous for it's Cloud Forest Reserve as well as all the Canopy tours you can join for some great adventure, walking above the jungle roof on sky bridges or fly above the treetops (up to 160 meters above ground) on zip-lines. Not a bad place to spend a day. I found it funny when our guide in the Cloud Forest Reserve, told us how lucky we were to spot both a female and male Quetzal, one of the most beautiful, sacred and elusive birds of Central America. Sometimes they have birdwatchers spending days or weeks looking for them without luck, and then the next day, when the birdwatchers have left, some ignorant tourist spots the Quetzal and rants away about spending 45 minutes of their precious time looking at some stupid parrot. "Where's the fu.... monkeys you promised me, the time is almost up?"
