Tues 29th Aug - Thurs 31st Aug.
Hoi An is a popular spot on the central coast line, famous for it's tailor shops for cheap custom suits and silk wear. It has a resort feel, with nearby beaches and some very high quality but affordable hotels and restaurants. The town was fairly quiet when we were there - the calm before Vietnamese Independence Day celebrations on Sept 2nd. Evenings were generally spent boozing and leisurely slotting balls home on the pool tables. On our last day we took a day trip southwest to see the My Son Relics. These were Buhdist/Hindu temples built in the 7th century, partially bombed in the Vietnam war and now being restored. Very similar to the Angkor Wat Temples in Cambodia (and older), but nowhere near as big. Worth the visit though, for sure.
We got a boat back from My Son to Hoi An on the River Thu Bon and then caught an overnight bus to Nha Trang. More thumbnails ...
