While in Melbourne we found information on an area called Grampians National Park. Decided to give it a try. Arrived in the small village of Hall's Gap. This village has 300 permanent residents and 6000 beds. It also has hundreds of kangaroos grazing just like our deer in the US. They seemed to really enjoy the grass around the campgrounds and the parks. We hiked two beautiful all day hikes while in the area. Met two couples who live in Melbourne. They gave us their addresses etc and invited us to come stay with them a few days. We were already moving further east to Phillip Island however, so had to decline for this trip. Will keep in touch though and hopefully see them again next time!! Phillip Island was delightful. Had numerous hiking tracks and hope you enjoy the pictures. The swap wallabys were everywhere and seemed quite curious about us as we hiked in the bush. We went to the penguin parade one evening. A ranger led 7 of us to a secluded beach and gave us night vision glasses. Just after dark the penguins emerged from the ocean and headed to their burrows some walking right beside us. There were 100's of them. They are Little Penguins and are blue on their backs and white on their stomachs. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. No pictures allowed however. We are now headed further up the east coast of Australia. More later...

Hi from T-town
Hi Guys...hope you're really enjoying Australia! Thanks for the great pix...I guess you're headed into winter there but, as I recall, it never got too cold, at least in the Sydney area and the White Mountains. Hope they still love us Yanks...we were pretty popular in the 60's and I remember talking to Aussies who still felt we saved them from the Japanese (we did). I had a job offer from a publishing company and almost moved there after the war.
Cheers,
Tim
