We left Dunedin and headed toward Te Anau and turned a 190 mile trip into three days. Decided to take the Southern Scenic Route. Found accommodations in the VERY small town of Papatowai in a motel behind a gas/grocery market. Turned out to be a beautiful one bedroom apartment with full kitchen and bath for the grand sum of $50.00 a night!! Spent the next two days traveling up and down the Scenic Highway taking in all the sights. The Cathedral Caves were awesome. They could only be seen at low tide as they fill at high tide. There is a gate to keep you out except 2 hours each side of low. There were so many waterfall hikes just off the road we were busy an entire day just walking to those. Then on to Curio Bay. This beach had a 160 million year old fossil forest on the shore. The petrified stumps and logs were just amazing. Also the surf was HUGE!!!! Check out the size of Steve against the waves and breaks.

We will send more from Te Anau in a few days.

Home in Maine
Hi guys. Your pictures are so beautiful. Glad you are doing OK and having a great trip. We got home Wed. but had two flat tires onthe camper before we got out of FL. Ended up getting four new tires on the camper. Maine is cold, but it's good to be home. Lots of outside work to do.

Take care and keep the blog a'bloggin.
