Where I stayed
Alex and Patricia's House
Yesterday we had some orientation type stuff, telling us about the country. Theres 5 people who start at the same time as me, but they are doing work teaching and one is in the Orphanage. We took a Matatu ride from Nairobi to NAkuru which took 3 hours on the most bumpy road i have ever experenced. My bum was well and truly numb after that..i've realised that sitting at the back of a little minivan (Matatu) on a long journey is not a good idea.
Yesterday we also moved into our accomodation. We're staying with Alex (a veyr religious guy who founded the local school) and his wife. They have 3 beautful kids, Collins, Peace and some baby. They're cute as fuck tho.
Today we finished Orientaion and had a look at the school., The kids are amazing. They're so happy considering they're situation and its incredible. they grab u as you walk into the school yard becuse they jsut want to touch your skin. Its weird. They basically just call us "WHite Person". But it snot meant in a derogatory way. its funny. They know little english, and the most they can seem to do is "How are You". They say it Over an over an over and over...
How are you?
They're aweosme tho..
We visited the slums today which is a real eye-opener. Its at a place called Hilton (Hotel i think not) and its basically the towns rubbish dump. Words cant really describe the conditions here, so i'm gona take pictures and stuff..Its Nuts tho..But the people are happy. They arent moping about but they're getting on with they're life..people in britaion shud probably all see this then maybe ppl wud change..
anyway i gtg. going to have a wander round town with steve (irish), mike (american), Melanie (American), and an Australian Couple..
bye people xxx
