Arriving in Turku, Finland
Where I stayed
. With a little hesitation on our part, we let ourselves in.
We stayed there for a bit while she was out at the beach but before long Topi arrived to let us in. He took us to the main park in Turku which was also the main site of a huge event called the Botellon. This is an event put on by the couchsurfing website we are using to stay at peoples houses. People from all over the world came to this park to hang out and get to know eachother. There were tons of people! So much that the air was hazy from cigarette smoke. We met Topi's friends and hung out until mid night then headed back to his apartment to sleep.
Topi, our next host, wasn't around to let us into his apt when we arrived in Turku. So, we sat outside of his door and tried to get onto someones unsecured wireless network to send him a message. After about 15 minutes of sitting outside his door, Steve knocked on his door again. Neither of us assumed he would answer, but we were bored and wanted in haha. It actually worked out to our benefit because instead of Topi answering, his next door neighbor answered. His neighbor is a girl named Tiaka which means Magic in English. Her whole head was dyed purple, she wore very dark clothes and had a cat named Venus. We appologized for the disturbance and informed her why we were sitting on the floor in front of Topi's door. Immediately without thought or hesitation, she invited us to come in and sleep at her apartment if we needed to. Steve and I were both taken back a little by the fact that this girl, who was just on her way out to the beach by the way, would let two strangers that shes known for 2 minutes into her house so confidently
