We woke at 12 the next day. Weren't sure exactly what we wanted to do, but had a general idea. The headphones for my Ipod shuffle broke inside of the headphone jack on the airplane and Steve accidentally stepped on his glasses the day before, so we wanted to replace and fix our goods. We were supposed to take a bus back downtown to the bus terminal we had been at the day before and walk to the mall but that didn't happen. Instead we got on the wrong bus and rode on it all the way to Espo to its last stop. Thank god our bus driver was nice and could speak English. She helped us figure out which bus to take to get to our original destination and off we went. I'm glad we went to Espo because it was very beautiful; lots of trees and lakes.

After another hour or so we arrived back in Helsinki and went off to the main shopping district. We couldn't find any stores to fix Steve's glasses because they were all closed by that time and it was too expensive to replace my headphones. 35 Euros!! Thats $ 50.00 Canadian with tax. But we had lots of fun anyways :) The STOCKMANN mall we went in was pretty different. Instead of browsing the stores from a hall and picking which ones you wanted to enter, you rode on an escalator and arrived inside a store. It's hard to explain. All of the stores were together on one floor. No walls to separate them. No halls to walk on outside of the stores. If you wanted to get to GAP you had to wlak through HUGO BOSS. Not sure if this was only this mall or all of them, but it was cool.

After that we bought some food at a vendor outside and at a grocery store (no ice cream isle) and took a bus back to home base. A few things Steve and I have noticed so far.....there is way more women then men, everyone has fair skin and really blonde hair, most people speak pretty good English, all of the streets have first Finish then Swedish street names (at least in this area) everyone is thin and EVERYONE rides their bikes. We haven't found one place that doesn't have a walking and biking path. Jere and Arja's apartment building has a parking garage just for bikes.
