We woke in a different world. It snowed that much overnight, that when I opened the curtains I didn't recognize the place. The tide had come in over the Kyle and the entire land surrounding it was white. It was beautiful. Even our Ford car was covered. I began to think we might get stuck! Ah well. Breakfast first. It was strange waking in the B&B. I realised that this was just a families house with a bedroom being rented out. We could here the kids running around playing, watching cartoons, and best of all smell our big cooked breakfast. We arose to hit the shower, which was the only shower in the house, hence we had to wait for it to be free! The breakfast was glorious, and the company of the family was great. It definitely was no ordinary B&B, more like a homestay arrangement. The lady introduced her husband as a Shepard. I didn't know that was still an occupation!

Soon after brekky we headed off, knowing we had a long long drive back to Glasgow. Our only stop on the way home was a visit to the Tomatin Distillery, just south of Inverness. I had a wee dram and bought a bottle before heading on our way. It was fantastic day as the highlands were completely blanketed in snow all the way down to Perth. I hadn't seen so much snow in my life.

It was a fantastic weekend. We had seen some amazing sites and been to amazing places. It confirmed for me that the Scottish highlands are one of favourite places not only in Europe but the World. It made me very keen to get the boots on however and conquer more of these magnificent mountains! Also, I believe, without going into the mathematics that Durness is possibly one of the furthest points on land away from Hobart. Thus Durness being the furthest away from home I've ever been, and will be?
