It is cremation day today and just after breakfast Jai's sister Bepat comes to find out who will be goingso that the family can arrange gifts for everyone. This is usually a keyring or biro.  I have said that I would gobut may recant later.
Spend about 3hrs at the farm on myown.
Am sat drinking a coffee just after my arrival back at the house when a friend,Lawan, from Pak Chong arrives and invites us to a party at her place tonight.  Whilst chatting to herDeu arrives from next door and invites us to go and eat and have a few beers with them as well.  I guess that party season has finally kicked in.
I dont usually drink beer at this timeof day but it wouldhave been churlish to refuse Deu so as soon as Lawan has left we weander aroundto join them all.  Spend the next few hours eating and drinking.
We break off so that I can take Jai to the cremation but fortunately my beer intake gets me a pass from having to attend with her.
When I get back to the house I think about going next door again but decide to stretch out in the back garden instead.
With a party tonight and tomorrow to go to I bike to the shop and buy a box of beer.  As well as the usual staff there are three young girls, 5-7 years old, behind the counter.  They greet me in near perfect English and walk around to shake my hand with a "pleased to meet you".  With these manners andlanguage skills they obviously dont belong here.  One of the girls was called Pam and she was quite chuffed to hear that I had a sister called Pam as well.
Jai gets back from the cremation about 16:30 and by 17:00 we have bikedto Pak Chong through a very cold wind.  The wind persists all night and the temperature dropsto the lowest its been this year by a long way.  People are wrapped up in big coats and blankets and sat huddled aroundthe BBQ burners to keep warm.  Theride back home at 22:30 was freezing and I was struggling to keep control of the bike through my shivering.
As soon as we step back into the house even the floor feels warm under my feet.  With a hot cup of coffe we are soon snuggled up in bed thawing out.
