As we wake up this morning we here the family talking next door that their brother has died in the night.  It is a sad day but really best for everyone in my opinion as he couldnt have gone on as he was for long.
Unfortunately this has coincided with the visit of Jiap's new family and we spend the whole day at the house waiting for them to come.  I was told they would be here about 11:00 to stay for lunch and then leave early afternoon.  I get bored waiting and go and visit John in the next village and George just to pass the time.  They finally arrive about 15:00 and a large group of family and neighbours sit around on the floor to negotiate the price that Jai will sell her daughter for.  I dont like this arrangement either but I guess it is only their version of a dowry.  It is said that the boy who wants to marry has to pay the mother 'milk money' that is the money to compensate the mother for raising the daughter and his wife to be.  I stay for a while then leave them to it as fortunately mum phones and I can retreat to the garden for a chat.  Deal done out comes the beer and the food and then they are off.  I have no idea what was finally agreed upon but about 2000GBP and a gold necklave worth about another 1000GBP which will go to the daughter.
Once everything is over they all set off to the brothers house again with Jai staying behind to clear up the devastation that everyone has left behind them in the house.
