Missed you, love you, mean it!
Trip Start Oct 11, 2012
18Trip End Oct 25, 2012
We were packed and on the road by 530 am and had no trouble getting to the airport and dropping the car off. Tickets....well that is another story. They have kiosks that you print out your baggage tags and boarding pass. Marlin's boarding pass was not marked as priority and that led to a long line wait for security. Leave it to me to have the beeper go off and need to get patted down. I had earrings and rings on and no other wire unless the suspension system in my under garment counts ?!? ;) Nice way to start the am. NOT! We made it through security and I realized I forgot to put deodorant on. A day ago mine took a crap and I used Marlins. Definitely a different chemical make up. We went into the duty free shop and no luck. I found 2 kinda both were about 16-20 euro. Nope. I ended up with baby wipes and a free couple pit sprays of Chanel chance. Smelling good now. Clearly the majority of people that I have come in contact with wear none and smell "natural" ugh. Nope!
Our flight was pretty full to Amsterdam and prior to boarding I ran to the bathroom quickly. As I came back around the corner all I can see are Marlin's legs and this man doing hip rolls with no shoes on. He proceeded to do yoga moves and keep talking to Marlin. Apparently he was here to visit family and had not had a conversation in a couple weeks with people speaking English. He was nice except for the pelvic thrusts!
On the plane I sat next to the man that kept staring out the opposite window and a German couple that could have used my wet wipes. She was deep in her German version of OK magazine. Don't let me fool you. I wish I had one. I have not been keeping up with anyone, well except for the President and Gov Romney. The Europeans are loving this campaign and are not afraid to tell who they don't like and who they love. Apparently all the famous and rich people vote for Obama so Romney is a better choice.... Interesting point of view. The few times we had the tv on that was all that they had on. Oh and jersey shore too!!
Our connection flight is in Amsterdam and we have 2 hrs between flights. I hope the passport control is quick. That took forever coming here. We got through the control with 20 Minutes before we had to be at the gate. We made it after a major session of power walking! At the gate you go through more security and why wouldn't my bag get searched. If they attempt my checked bag, I have no idea how they will get it back In there. The thing weighed 28kg so....how many lbs is that? Who cares. I am over the Atlantic right now headed back to a place where things are measured in feet and things weighed in pounds!!
I got to my seat and was hoping for a solo voyage. No such luck. The gal next to me was from Sweden and was headed to Cleveland, Oh to visit some friends from study abroad in Ireland. We chatted and she was pretty interesting! Now let's talk about the surrounding characters. In front of me was a middle aged couple that spoke Portuguese and he smelled like B.O. The guy behind me.... Well lets just say this entire carry-on was a large sack of cigarettes he had long finger nails, ratty long hair and yellowed fingers. Did i mention that he had no upper front teeth? Lucky me that he smokes vantage, so Gma Myrna was there with me in smell! It was freezing and I was layering up for the 8 hr trip that had my nose staying cold. I got zero sleep, watched 3 movies and 2 tv shows. The food was ok and if the woman wearing a scarf in front of me whipped it around her any more I may have lost it. There was a kid that looked like the spitting devil from Serendipity that was running the isles and I only managed to go to the bathroom once! Can you say dehydrated? We landed and herded out of the plane and skated through customs and passport control and now are in a taxi headed to Marlin's house. I am so happy to be home and that I live in the USA! Missed you love you mean it!
