Day 3 Switzerland
Trip Start Oct 11, 2012
18Trip End Oct 25, 2012
I had a cup of coffee to get the day rolling and read through the book on Switzerland that I bought yesterday. I did some research on Basle and found that I managed to see most of it but the zoo! This place is supposed to have one of the best zoos in the world! Marlin and I are going tomorrow! I cannot wait!! I also did a bit of research in Zurich, we are headed there on Sunday. Most of the shops are closed on Sunday, but I am ok with that. The trip should be a couple hours an we can take our time. That city is going to be amazing!
I left the hotel About 1 pm with no plans
I kept walking and found a little restaurant that is standard Swiss that had an English menu and big beers!!! I sat there and ate local fare. Rösti (pattied hash browns with onion) with ham and cheese and a small salad. Sorry Wisconsin Schlittler's but this kicks the Turner Houses butt! Only complaint... I think thy used Limburger. Oh well, tastes amazing!
I sat there for a while and have a coffee. Understand that a coffee is the size of a thimble. I put a pic on here so you would see what I mean. It really packs a punch though! I needed it. As I left I literally went around the corner and say a sign for Birkenstocks. And on sale end of season! I got 2 for the price of one here!!!! Super cute and totally practical ;)
It must be that on fridays people come out of the woodwork. Wow and let me tell you I had a hard time not staring. I saw super tight sweatpants on men, high heels that had a girl walking with her knees bent and maybe the best mullet I have ever seen. It was flowing and had an amazing feathering on the side. He totally rocked it. I was not the only person that saw it either. I just showed enough restraint to stare. Others took pictures. Damn. I missed my chance.
I headed back because my only mission today was to figure out where we were going to dinner. The gal at the front desk was sweet and gave me a few options. I am voting for Italian!!
I am sitting in the hotel right now with the window open and all I can hear are the church bells ringing that it is 6pm
Marlin had to work late so we opted for the deli across the street that had lamb roasting on spits. We had lamb wraps. While we waited for a our food we stood in the lobby of the deli and watched Jersey shore! GTL baby! We came back and opened a bottle of awesome Pinot Noir that Marlin got while at lunch with his coworkers. Gilles actually have him a couple bottles of champagne as a gift from his brother( Marlin helped him with an engine part). I managed to have a glass of wine while sitting in bed watching the barefoot contessa on the food network. Marlin had work to do, so I was really helping a lot!
I was really nice to stay in and rest up. We have a big Saturday ahead of us!!!!
