A busy day for no classes!
I also want to plan out some trips for the semester, and settle in my applications for abroad next spring. I'm waiting back for a bunch of emails, I hope people respond because I feel like my mind is juggling so much that if they dont, I'll forget I'm waiting for a response. And if say, the french embassy doesnt get back to me, that could be a significant problem.

My flatmates got back from Paris today and it makes me realize how much I miss French. This is the longest I've ever been in Europe without going to France! (Did I ever think I'd say that sentence in my life?! Ha. Quelle vie!) I actually found a website online to practice French ( http://www.laits.utexas.edu/fi/ ) and it was nice to hear some french again. Its actually been a long time since I've taken a class, I really feel it slipping and I dont want that to happen! Hopefully spanish will help bring back some French.

Today I went to do laundry for the first time. Its outside and sort of down the block from where I live. So I walked down with my laundry basket and detergent, get it and suck it up and pay the 2 GBP for to do wash and head back to the flat. I get there to find my key isnt working outside the building. I ring my flat and Rachel comes down to answer the door for me, and she cant get the door open either. It resulted in me following around the Tutor (basically an RA) for half an hour while he went to a meeting (me in tow with hamper and detergent, akwardly off to the side) to get back to the dorm (after stopping to pick up my wet clothes to avoid paying another GBP for drying) and find that the door now opened. Well it was an adventure I suppose. And I got to know the Tutor who does seem interesting. He's from Hanover in Germany and also speaks some French. Not a total loss of an hour, finding a French speaker. =)

And then I did a marathon work out. I'm so excited for frisbee to start tomorrow. Today I ran around the only direction I hadnt turned yet out and found the little running path I've been looking for. I'll take pictures sometime. It goes past a castle-looking building (which turns out to be an academic department) and through the woods to a road that reminds me of Sandy Hill Road in Oyster Bay. Nice and covered and green and very few cars. So I ran for 30 minutes and came back still feeling really energtic so I spent the next hour and a half dancing around my room intermingled with pushups and crunches and little exercises I figured out I could do. It always feels good to do that. I still dont feel sore.

This week I spent 407.63 USD. Without buying the 123GBP bus pass, thats closer to 150.00 USD. Spent on groceries, bedding pack, athletic union membership to join frisbee, dues for french society & 1 soda I bought at a free dinner. I've been really frugal and I'm pretty proud of it. It also forces me to eat healthier. Candy bars arent worth the GBPs, I need to get nutrition in what I eat. I eat lots of apples and bananas and cereal and sandwiches. I also lucked out with a flatmate who works for a resturant and might want to be a chef, so he cooks us fancy pasta and chicken dishes with ridiculous incredients. I bought some frozen vegtables and hard boiled some eggs to make my french host mom's salad. I ate curry for the first time that my welsh flatmate showed me how to make.

I'll be fine with money, but if I can save some here and there, I think thats okay. I can cut back on eating out, I havent drank while I'm out here which saves me money.. I try and take advantage of things that have a free meal attached..

Basically I dont want anyone to worry about me and money here, I just want to be.. frugal while still getting the full expirence. I also have the idea in the back of my head that I'll need money for next semester too.

Its all good.
=)
