Today is the day. Its not "In September" or "September 14th" or "the 14th of this month" or "this Friday" anymore. Its just, today.
I woke up and looked at my window at a part of a poem I wrote on there before I left for college senior year. It's "Yes,It Hurts" by Karin Boye.
Yes, it hurts when the ice drop melts.
Shivering, anxious, swollen it hangs,
gripping the twig but beginning to slip --
its weight tugs it downward, though it resists.
It hurts to be uncertain, cowardly, dissolving,
to feel the pull and call of the depth,
yet to hang and only shiver --
to want to remain, keep firm -- yet want to fall.
Then, when things are at their worst and nothing helps,
The buds of the tree burst in exaltation.
Then, when fear no longer holds them,
The drops of the bough fall glistening,
Forgetting that the new scared them,
Forgeting that the journey made them anxious -
Feeling for one second their big safety,
Resting in the trust
That creates the world.
And that poem made me think of "Ithaca" by Constantine P. Cavafy, and then in my search I ran into "Oh The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss (in my favorites folder). So that's whats on my mind today as I set out. Lots to do today. I woke up at 6 after 4 hours of sleep.. maybe it will help me adjust to London time.
Listen to LDN by Lily Allen today. It makes me smile.

Hi Stephanie, Thanks for incuding us on your travel log. We love reading about your adventures. Have a wonderful time in London and say hello to Grandma for us. Maybe she'll travel the world with Ryan and Erin one day. I visited London on a business trip years ago. Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace were my favorite stops. Keep in Touch.
