Oh man! It's been a whole month since I wrote, ooopsy!! I've been busy!!
I'll just leave a quick update to fill everyone in on what Ive been up to!
After Phnom Penh we continued to Siem Reap where we visited Angkor Wat which is pretty bloody impressive and a must-see for anyone visiting Cambodia. Pretty much immediately afterwards we headed back to Bangkok and from there we briefly went our seperate ways - Carlien and Tony flew to Chiang Mai and I headed back down to the evil, alcohol-fueled party island of Koh Phangan to meet Mike & Chris and Sam & Mike for the Full Moon Party (the sequel) !!
It was absolutely brilliant to see some familiar faces and I had a great time. The next day, I got the boat across to Koh Samui with Mike and Chris and we stayed in the worst beach hut ever but had lots of fun on the island, riding elephants, seeing crocs and playing with monkeys (and playing crazy golf too, haha). I was really sad to say goodbye to the boys (although I was starting to actually fel ill from laughing so much!!) but then met up with Sam and Mike again which was so much fun!!
After Samui I headed back to Bangkok where I met C&T, and then me and Carlien flew down to KL where it was HOT! We went to see the Petronas Towers and other sight-seeing stuff (check out the photos of Carlien when we went o the Mosque - insert evil chuckle here!!) Then Carlien caught her plane back to the UK and I met up with Lee Alan which was really cool!
We did some sight-seeing in KL as well and then flew across to Borneo which was really cool - firstly to a town called Tawau, but then to Semporna. We went snorkelling on an island called Sibuan which is one of the prettiest places Ive ever seen, although Lee managed to get horrifically sun-burnt (I'm a bad friend and I laughed - sorry Lee!! :( I did try to warn you though!!) The next day we did some scuba diving, I went to an island called Sipadan which was absolutley fantastic. Saw loads of turtles (some were the same size as me!!) which was really cool and a couple of little sharks too.
After Semporna we got the LONG bus to Sandakan and then flew down to JB, which is next to the border with Singapore. After 4 more buses we eventually made it to Singapore which was a bit cooler (thank goodness, for Lee's sake!!) and a little bit rainy too. We went to see the Golden Compass which I quite liked (although its got nothing on the books) which is cool because Ive actually been waiting for it to come out for years!!
The next day Lee flew home to England and Carlien flew into Singapore, with just an hour to spare before our flight to Bali. We're here now and MELTING! I dont think I have ever felt heat like this in all my life! Tomorrow we are hopefully going to get a boat over to the Gili islands where we'll do some more diving, but first we're hitting the town tonight!! Bali is basically Ibiza for Australians so I cant wait!!
Anyway, after a few days on the Gilis we'll be heading to Australia and Im SO excited!! And then only a few days till Christmas, whoop whoop! We'll be meeting Tony in Cairns again too for Christmas which I am absolutely over the moon about, and well also get to see loads of the people from our China tour while we're travelling down the east coast. Plus, Amy will be visiting too, yay!! It's so exciting!!
I'm just approaching the half-way point for the trip and really missing everyone at home, although stilll having the time of my life - sometimes I have to pinch myself to realise this isnt all a dream!
Anyway before i go, just a few quick messages for people:
Happy 30th Birthday to Michael, wish I could have been there to celebrate with you (and get well soon too!!) You really are an old man now!
Also Happy Birthday Gill, stop being such a birthday-scrooge and get out there and party!!! ;)
Lee - Sorry about the sun-burn. And for making you watch the sound of music!! It was really fun :)
Hayley - the dress looked AMAZING!!
Chris and Dave - Claire is WAY better you crazy fools!! :P
Ted and Big Ted - I really really miss you both! I love you so much and cant wait to see you. Give my love to the rents.
Anyway, thats all for now folks! I'll try and write again soon! Hope everyone is good there and getting all excited for Christmas!
Lots of love, from Steph xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
