Hi guys!
Well back on the train we got and off to Beijing we went! The journey was not so bad only being on the train for two days (and this time we had air-con, wooo!) although the group got seperated and me and Carlien were in a room with a mother and baby!!! He was about 6 months and really really cute and I called him Mongolian Ryan :) I managed to spend most of the time asleep which was cool.
Eventually we got here and met our new honcho called Mark who seems nice. We got to our hotel, showered and headed straight out for dinner (I was very relieved to find the toilet in the hotel is NOT a squat, unlike all the others in China apparently.........) Anyway we had a feast of all different Chinese food, I was very brave and tried everything!! There was this weird vegetable which is supposed to grow like a potato and is slimy and transparent and a bit grey. It looked like squid. As far as I'm aware there were no dogs or rats on the table, but I couldn't be sure....... I was pleased to discover there are over 200 Golden Arches in Beijing, so after the no-show in Mongolia, McDonmalds is making a comeback. Results of the taste test will be posted soon!! :)
After dinner we went to see a show called The Legend of Kungfu at the Red Theatre. I thought it was really amazing, have never seen people move like it. Then we got a taxi home and admired the sights around Beijing. I like it here so far, but its very very hot!! The buildings are really cool and there are neon lights all over the place. There is also smog all over the place - not so cool!!! We're off to see the Great Wall tmro and then the vodkatrain group disbands :( Im really sad to say goodbye to everyone but looking forward to our new adventures!!
Hope everyone is cool there, missing you all loads. Sorry for the lack of photos, I left my USB cable at home (dingbat!!) I'm working on a cunning plan so should have some on here asap.......
Speak to you soon! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
