I'm in hot springs now taking 2 days off one because I needed it and today because its raining and the next 9 days are nothing but sun
So we showed up in gatlinburg at 7pm and left by 1200. what a strange town! Couldn't get out quick enough. So we show up to the gap that's about in the middle of the smokies and it was filled with tourists. I know what tom Brady must feel like. Everybody was asking us question and coming u to us to talk. I felt like a celebrity. The good thing about all the day hikers was that they packed down the snow so we weren't post holing all day. Did some real scary hiking. The snow made the ridges real slippery and dangerous
so last night 4 tough thru hikers could not start a fire to dry out our boots. What experienced hikers we are. Lol. Had an easy 13 mile day. Yup that's right 13 miles are easy now. Did a lot of ridge walking had amazing views of the smokys. Zip and nobody moved on. Me and grateful and moon stayed at the shelter. I had a surprise today 2 horses were being rode up the trail. One of the horses was nervous and almost knocked me off the trail. So wild life count so far 3 turkeys, some squirrels, mice, hawks and 2 horses.
how I celebrated Easter: I found a amazing outlook and reflected on things and listened to the birds and later had some beers by the fire with new friends
hiked another short day with grateful. All the other guys pressed ahead. We did 14 miles to this really cool mountain called max patch. Its a open top and we camped right off the peak. I got to see an amazing sunset over the smoky and a even better sunrise!
we (me and grateful)hiked 20 miles today. My 1st 20 mile day wow!!! it was really hot. The trail runs right down the center of town! We stopped first at the dinner stinky and dirty and we stuffed our faces!
We met up with some old friends young one and little brown. The we found the rest of the hooligans at the diner. Got to meet moon pie's momma and his girl. Then me nobody and grateful headed to the hot springs bath. The hot spring is pumped up in the the jacuzzi and then out into the river so its always fresh water and not dirty jacuzzi water. The mineral water comes up from the ground at 105 degrees. Had some beers at the bath then went to bed. What a day saw a amazing sunrise, hiked 20 miles had a great dinner and the a nice warm mineral bath! Trail life is tough sometimes
