I'm still recovering from the weekend...trying to get the jungle out of the girl! I did have Stephan go on a jungle walk with me that consisted of walking through the parking lot of another hotel (we were told the path lead to the jungle....but didn't), but we ended up on the Miami Beach which was very nice. Not the best swimming beach, but beautiful. It was great to just hang out and talk with the beautiful scenery in the background.

Tuesday we stayed around the apartment letting the kids work on school. I feel so badly for them and all the work they are doing right now trying to finish up the school year before we head to Sri Lanka and South Africa. We met our friends, Terry and Indygo, down by the pool for a bit, and headed up to take showers. Bukit Bendera Pinang Hill was on our agenda for the evening-- we were going to try to get some pictures of the sunset. We met the driver and our new South African friends downstairs at 6 and headed to the hill. It's funny how when you are traveling in other countries, you meet people who are from other countries--not the current one that you are in. In New Zealand, the girls met Germans, and now here we have met South Africans. My most favorite part of this trip has been meeting the wonderful people. Terry is a single mom who took a year to travel with her 10 year old daughter Indygo. They began their year long journey in the U.S. (Florida of all places), and are coming to the end of their year where Terry will be going back to South Africa and opening up a Bed and Breakfast. Once you get the travel bug, it's hard to get rid of it, and the B&B is her way of still meeting other fellow travelers. Indygo is a highly spirited beautiful blue eyed girl with a personality way bigger than she is. We fell in love with them both immediately. We all piled in the car and headed to the hill. Once we got there, we realized our driver, Richard, would not be able to drive us to the top.  We were going to have to take the train up to the 850 Meter slope.

Once we got to the top, we were met by a beautiful scene. We were overlooking the city of Georgetown, the bridge to the mainland, and almost all of Pinang's lights. It was breathtaking. Unfortunately, we missed the sunset, but in the end it didn't matter, the night scape was just as beautiful. We ended our night having a nice dinner overlooking Pinang Island surrounded by frogs and a lily pond in what was the coolest weather we have felt since landing on the Asian continent. It was a lovely time, and we really enjoyed our new friends.
