We spent 2 nights on our pitch at Tarangau campsite, then had to move pitches for our last night there, again nothing special, its just coz the campsites are all full and they're having trouble keeping up with bookings! Today we moved to another campsite where tonight we are on a tent pitch and then for the next 2 nights we will be on a campervan pitch! Its getting crazy with all the moving around so I think we'll start getting back on the road soon.
We're slowly ticking off all the tourist attractions in Broome. The other day we did Chinatown, which is a hive of shops, ice-creameries and chinese restaurants. There is a memorial erected to all the pearl divers who used to trawl the depths of the ocean here, with full diving suit on, complete with lead boots and a pipeline attached to their helmet. They still have pearls in Broome, but they are cultured in farms so its a lot safer and more controlled.
We visited the famed 'Cable Beach' which apparently is one of the top 5 beaches in the world, but we really didn't think much to it! It's a nice, sandy beach, sure, but to be in the top 5..? They must've paid someone for that title!
We went to the Courthouse markets today, which are held outside in a really lovely shady park, not a courthouse building! I bought a hippy dress so that I can wear something cool and flowing in these heats, and we looked at some stalls which were selling indiginous artwork, which was beautiful.
