We went through People at Work and the kids ended up making dice with pictures of the different jobs we were learning about. The kids are very cute when they are trying to say the words and they all love high-fives (though I suspect it has something to do with the opportunity to legitimately hit the teacher!). The lesson ended with the dice being thrown all over the place and all (hopefully) the kids learning what a "Police Officer"/"Fire fighter" etc are. On a side note it was almost surreal having a class of kids salute at the word Police Officer; very different culture here!
It was great to finally have a go at teaching a class for myself. I was extremly nervous before hand but I think it all turned out okay. Tomorrow I have another PCA and this time we get to watch Toy Story, how awesome is that!
Steph's turn to teach her first class tomorrow, we will update how she gets on when we have a moment - busy weekend ahead.
On a side note our Mandarin lessons are progressing really well. We are really benefiting from having classes 5 days a weeks (as opposed to the standard 2 lessons a week that the other teachers are getting). We can now tell time, read/tell a date and give directions to taxi drivers. However the best phrases so far have been ting bu dong - I don't understand - and ting zher [ting jher] or ting naer [ting naar] - stop here and stop there respectively. Both are vital for taxi trips!
We will be conversing with the locals in no time!
