Alright, a little overdue I think on an update. I will keep it short enough as I am cutting in to my sleep time. Just finished work, it's 3:26pm and I plan on sleeping right when I get home until I wake up, which will hopefully be 5:45am tomorrow morning before more work. Such is life at the moment.

Last week was good though, aside from being sick for a week and half now (it's almost gone now), I rented meself a car and headed off to Calgary for two day. TWO WHOLE DAYS OFF WORK!! I'm not kidding at all. It was great. I got out of town around 9:30am, did a wee spin around Lake Minnewanka just outside of Banff. It was so gorgeous as I hadn't been near that end of town in weeks since I was at the old job. It was unreal to see how green everything had turned. It was like an alpine tropical forest. Gorgeous. Snow in the mountains and crazy green everywhere else. I took some nice pics, saw some of the resident goats, found the old town of Bankhead that I didn't know was out there, and then headed on to the highway to the city.

I was trying and trying to work the stupid cruise control on the car with no luck when I looked down to see I was going a good 20-30km over the limit. Oops. Heavy foot. But it was the black truck that went speeding past me just before Canmore that I found being pulled over by the cops just the other side of Canmore. Lol, I was serioulsy wondering how slack the cops were out here in Alberta, but apparently not 135km/hm slack. I tried my best to control my foot after that. I got in to the city and I think I only took 3 or 4 wrong turns and cut off two people the whole two days of driving. Not bad really I must say. I loved driving in the city too. I love going 110 down the Deerfoot in the middle of a major city. Where else is that possible hey? Sure as hell not Portage of Pembina in Winnipeg!!

Got to visit with Gerry and Kari for a short while and got to see little Spencer who is far from 2 1/2 months old like the last time I saw him. He was quite shy and he didn't really pay me much attention the first day. The second day we went down to the basement together before dinner and I helped him get out the vaccuum so he could clean the basement. Then he decided to show me the storage closets and thought it would be in his interest to put me in the closet, close the door and turn off the lights on me before leaving me there to go for dinner upstairs. Not sure what that was about but I think it's the start of a beautiful friendship ;) What a cute kid though.

Short trip during the middle of the week, but it was good to see some more family for the first time in way too long.

I left on the third day really early to go back to Banff and return the car. Did one more quick loop around Lake Minnewanka and then back to drop off my shopping purchases which was one of the reasons for going to Calgary. No way in heck I am doing my shopping in Banff. Then I dropped the car off and it was back to work after a 3 hour or so catch up nap.

So about 3 days ago now myself and another girl had arrangements for a familiarization trip with a local company to go horseback riding. There was nothing I wanted to do less at the time that go riding a horse on no sleep, in the pouring rain, but no cxl possible so we were stuck. The weather turned nice though for the evening and we were off. I of course as fate would have it, got the stubborn horse. The one that doesn't listen, has to be held on the by a guide while we wait to head off, likes to headbutt the other horses, eat on the trail when he's not supposed to, and bite the other horses and then get kicked for it. Awesome. I was already freakin nervous being around them all then I got "Crow". I was freaking out the first half ride. I swore I hated horses, I was never doing this again, I didn't want to die blah blah blah. Halfway along the trip we stopped for a nice yummy BBQ dinner, and then continued on the last half of the trail along Sulphur Mountain and back into the stables. Funny enough once I got used to "Crow" and a bit more comfortable, the second half of the ride was great. I was planning my next ride, and loving the whole thing. Wierdo! So I totally want to go again. I might see what I can arrange for Saturday afternoon as I have to work at 5pm at the Liquor Store. So I guess the whole point of these familiarization trips is for the front line staff at the local hotels to have the experience and then pass on recommendations to guests, so that's what I am doing. When in Banff, go horseback riding. It's awesome. Your ass hurts for a few days afterwards for darn sure (mine still does), but being out in the middle of the bush, seeing deer and elk along the trail, seeing the mountains in the setting sun covered in snow, was simply gorgeous. Just what I needed to relax.

After that I joined a bunch of poeple from work at the tail end of the a BBQ and then we all went out to town after that. Needless to say I slept till 3pm. the next day, but in my defence it was all sleepless night related not alcohol. At least I still have a life outside of 70 hour work weeks.

Other than that, I have nothing much of interest to say. I dare say summer is cheating us again the last three days as it's been gorgeous out since I went horseback riding. I still think summer is never going to come (ala Scotland), but we shall see.

Hope all is well with everyone at home. Take care and talk to ya later. Cheers!
