So it's May long weekend. Craziness in Banff. It's bee quite hectic here at work (where I am still currently) with reservations, and people phoning in looking for rooms at the last minute. It's just me doing reservations today so I have been kept mostly busy which is great. If I were this busy everyday I might have considered staying here. Alas, it's not this hectic every day and tomorrow is my last shift here at the resort.
It's hardly a long weekend for myself either as my last day off was May 8th I think. Not sure yet when my next day off will be. Been doing my full time here at the resort, a few shifts at the Liquor Store until 2am which is an awesome job, and the odd dishwashing shift (last night). Someone called me a workaholic the other day. I guess I can't deny it really. All I'll say is it took me a while to save up money before I left for Europe and know how much I worked before that so.....

I have my first shift on Tuesday at the new hotel. Excited for that, and I think my new boss is even more excited for me to start which is nice. I am already trying to get back into front desk mode and remembering what it was like talking to people face-to-face again. YAY! Moving in to my new staff accommodation on Monday. Going have to grab a taxi because I am not making however many trips back and forth from the farthest points of town. I get my own room in my new place so I am stoked about that. Can't wait to settle in and make it my own. I had put up some pics in my old room, but it's hard to make a space you own when you're basically living in a room with bunkbeds. Amazing how you can adapt to situations that seem so extreme when you first step into them. Mom, Dad, you remember the room and how small it was. I've actually become used to it now. Amazing!

The weather here is still strange. It was kinda cool this morning and you could tell from the colour of the sky and the feel of the air that it was going to rain eventually. And it did. Right when I wanted to go for lunch it was pouring down. Then, it was sunny and gorgeous again with some leftover low clouds hugging the sides of the mountains. Now, it's half and half. It'll likely rain agian, but oh well. It's kind of like Scotland I am coming to accept. You just sort of eventually give up that it's ever going to get warmer than 15C maybe 20C and it will rain and be cloudy and wierd. I don't think I believe in hot summers, blazing sunlight, and natural tans anymore. It's all a made-up fairytale. The world is really full of mild/cold, rainy, ugly weather with occasional sun just to keep away the depression.

(Ah, the cacophony of phones all around me...stop the madness. I am answering them...I'm not a slacker!)

Anyway, tip for travelers, BOOK AHEAD, otherwise don't get shitty about having to pay the rack rate on a room. You drove from Saskatoon and you are desperate for a room...sorry...everywhere is booked!

So there was a squirrel in my room again last weekend when I woke up. I heard the sucker outside my window and tried to scare him away without having to fully wake up and lose the sleepiness feeling, but he wouldn't move. Next thing I know is he's in my room on the window sill. So up I flew to scare him away and when I went to slam the window shut I smashed my finger in it instead. It doesn't have a handle just one of those bendy triangle hinges, in which I put my finger. Smart I know. I can't be a genius all the time. Hard work. So it wasn't pretty. Started bleeding and my finger went numb. I couldn't find anything to put on it and then I got all hot like how you get when you are about to faint. At least I get really hot, dizzy, and start sweating ridiculously. I tried to cool myself off but it lasted for a good 45 minutes of being on the verge of fainting. I'm not that big of a suck, but maybe my body just freaked out about the pain and the blood. I managed to call in to work and say I wasn't feeling good and that I'd be late, but after the 45 minutes of almost fainting, I cooled down and got major chills. Like shivering non-stop. I had to crawl into bed and wrap myself up in blankets. Managed to bandage up my finger around 2pm and head into work but still didn't feel all that great. What a fun morning that was. That was on Sunday, so it's pretty much better now. Height of excitement for the week. Wow!

Guess not that much else to say at the moment. I lead an exciting life, I know. Hope everyone's long weekend is shaping up good so far and that it's not raining on your BBQ's and what not. Take care and talk to you all later. Cheers!
