Alrighty then. Where to start. I'll give as short of a version as I am capable of. For a while I've been a bit iffy about my current job. It's not quite in town which limits when I can get away and back, the hours are quite limiting for getting a second job as they run from mid-morning to early evening, and I just wasn't fitting in with the young crowd very well. At 22 I feel really old here. Not to mention the job was a bit slow and I missed interacting with people as I have become accustomed to in my past positions. Hence, I started looking around and applying for some other jobs. Radium, British Columbia, Jasper, Banff, etc.
Long story short, I got offered 3 jobs on Saturday!! Two of them for front desk positions at hotels in town, and one a part-time job at a liquor store in town. In the end, I decided to take one of the front desk positions at quite a nice 4 star hotel in town as well as the part-time job. The hotel is willing wait for me to give my two weeks at my current job and work around my 2 part-time shifts at the liquor store. I will be living in an apartment in town, which is expensive for staff accommodation, but central and I get my own room. The job is a step-up from all the other stuff I've done which is nice because I get sooooo antsy just hanging out at easy jobs where I am not developming my skills or learning anything new. Plus they own two hotels, so my shifts will be split between the two. Both good properties and I get a bit of variation. Almost like having 3 jobs. I was dancing around all day. The stars and planets must have aligned, the Gods are in agreement with each other and everything else to have given me two great opportunities on the same day, so I am super certain that I am making the right choice in what I am doing. I have started to get used to my job now, and I am going to hate to give up on it as I like the people I work with, but I can't pass up the opportunity.
And that's my news. I actually went in the the Liquor Store on Saturday for an hour just to see how things work, and I have my first shift tomorrow from 5pm. You have no idea how relieved I am that everything is fitting into place alright.
I am at work right now, and I am going crazy trying to get the courage to tell my boss that I am leaving. Ah, that sucks. I've been asking questions about things and she's been showing me how to do different reservations and payments so that I hate thinking about being interested in what I am doing and then saying but really I am leaving in two weeks. I'm not the type to slack off just because I am leaving though. I better get it out today.
It's a gorgeous dayt outside right now. Windy, but nice. Supposed to be good tomorrow as well. Went out on the town with about 8 girls I work with Saturday night, so it was quite funny to hear how crap people who had ot work were feeling yesterday. I was dead tired. I hate going out!
Otherwise that's all from Banff for now. On a little side note for mom and dad, if you remember going to Lake Minnewanka when you dropped me off here in March. The Lake before there is called Johnson Lake and apparently it was closed a week or two ago because a cougar had killed an elk over there and stuck around for about a week or two before it left likely because a bear and her cub moved into the area. Scary stuff. A picture of the cat in the newspaper was HUGE!! We were actually only a few km away last weekend when I went over there for a bonfire with some work people. Yikes!
Anyways, phones are ringing. Talk to you later. Cheers!

Good for you!
Hi Steph.
Well you must be so pleased. Good jobs and is the LC Gov or private? If it is Gov. you should end up with some benefits no??
Glad to hear the sun is shinning.
Guess what I'm doing painting my kitchen AGAIN.
Take Care,
Love Aunty Sandra
New Job
Yeah, I am happy. The liquor place is private so the only benefits are on the actual liquor and it's easy as. A perfect side job really. I have a shift tomorrow at 5. What colour are you painting the kitchen now? Dining area too? I remember you looking at colours when we stopped there in March. Cool! Take care.
