Sandra and I made it from Hanoi at 7 am to Hong Kong and got on an Air Canada plane no problem (yes!!!) with the stand by tickets July 20.  We chose the Toronto flight, so 15 hours (as opposed to the 13 going over from Vancouver), which was surprisingly not as painful as going over as it was an overnight flight, so you had to sleep at some point, and there were TVs for each of us this time, so 10 movies later, I was in Toronto.  Met T in Toronto as he was getting off work at the airport and then to YOW and home by 9pm...all on the 20th of July.  I think that qualifies as the longest day of my life.

At home this week, and at the cottage, still having troubles sleeping in past 5:30 am.  Been a bit rainy here hasn't it?  My plants are out of control in the garden!

Had the pleasure of attending Lisa and Brian's big day last Saturday in Ottawa Louise's fascinator
Louise's fascinator
.  Great night!  Louise's fascinator was way more fascinating than mine.  See pictures.

Leaving for a break in Toronto today, for a few days to stay with Johanna (from Dalhousie and she was at school in London when I was in Manchester) near a market downtown, St Lawrence....I'll find it.

Off to Siem Reap on the 7th now for 2 weeks.   The flight plan looks very convoluted at this point, going through China and Thailand and Phnom Pehn first, so I will spend the next few days paring that down hopefully!  Plus the Cambodian visa website is down, and there is no embassy in Canada.  Perfect.

Thanks for the lovely notes everyone!  I hope your summer has been a good one so far.

Wish you were here!

PS good news, my laptop is back up and running as of Tuesday so I can keep in touch on the road again.  It broke last week as soon as I got home.  OK 6pm flight to catch and I still need to pack.
