Arrived in London to meet Nickola around noon.  The weather is depressing (especially coming from Greece) as usual.  I told myself no shopping, the pound is a real shopping-high killer....ya, well, come on, I need to shop a bit.  Plus its Ascot and I see all the ladies with their fancy head-feather pins thingies and I think I want one....

Went to see Wicked at the theatre last night, which was absolutely awesome and much more like the book than expected.  We had good seats, even better after intermission!  ha ha.

I have never really commuted here before as I was always a student or tourist, so came in with Nickola from Helens at Finsbury Park (Zone 2) at rush hour....I feel dirty and sweaty from a 15 min tube ride.  Mind the gap, more like mind the coughing, rubbing up against you and beign hearded like cattle.  Not sure how they do this daily.` Helen has put me up in London before, so thanks yet again my dear!

And things are getting more expensive here, the pound is killer!  Just killer!  Inflation is all over the news and the public sector is talking about striking, even though they reach a new contract deal only 2 weeks ago.  Its said people are spending an average of 2 thirds of their income on putting a roof over their heads.

Went to the Palace, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, Oxford Circus (Burberry flagship store!) and all the usual haunts...now we are off to Nickola`s place in Derby.  I am looking forward to the Peak District.

OK I am running out of battery at Starbucks (they are on every corner here too) so I will keep this short and sweet.   . Congestion charge for downtown drivers
