As Mike and I had a heavy few nights and also days we decided on an easy option; lunch and check a nearby park and relax. Unbeknown to me for a while, Mike would nap in the afternoon. The thought of doing likewise did not occur to me. Instead I would chill out on the rooftop and pass out for a few minutes. Only would I awake when someone or something jolted me. My bed was unoccupied for most nights bar a maximum of four hours. We headed down to Puerto Madero to meet Mike's friend for lunch. This is the area of businesses, high rise buildings and busy people. Sat there we were dressed in shorts and t-shirts; looking sharp might I add. However when everyone else in suited up you feel out of place. Lunch was good and it was fun talking to Mike’s friend. She was fluent in English and very happy to tell us what to do and see in Buenos Aires.

We headed to Reserva Ecologico Costanera Sur. Foolishly we failed to take into account that the temperature was forty degrees, we had taken no water and a stroll around this park would take many hours. Other than that it was a good walk! The park is very well kept baring in mind it was a wasteland before this century.

As most people wanted the night off to relax bar the new arrivals I hit the Pub Crawl with them. The group was not too friendly and a few of them were quite stuck up. One thought entered my mind; 'where is the liquor?’ The first bar offered a free shot which I threw back invitingly and grabbed a beer in reflex. (I was done with beers as stated earlier but I thought to try out every variety before quitting).

There was a Canadian girl and another male traveller from our hostel at the bar. I had not spoken to them before so I decided to introduce myself. Rather quickly I felt the guy was giving me the cold shoulder. He may have thought I was ‘cock blocking’ him; how wrong he was. His response was ‘get yourself another drink’ and that was thinly veiled to basically leave them. I do not take orders but after a while I politely left them.

A move to the next bar and I was arm in arm with a hot Danish girl. I was a tad tipsy but do not know how our ‘bond’ occurred. Another shot, coupled with a few more beers and pizza! Even though it was just cheese as the operators showed money was no object, it went down well. I talked to the Danish girl and recall a few things. One that she was thirty and I asked her for tips on traveling here. I do not think she heard the word ‘tips’ as she was offended and left. In my state I had no reflex to go after her.

The final stop was Crobar nightclub. The bus taking us there was full and we instead were grouped into taxis. This particular ride was awkward to say the least. I was grouped with the unfriendly Canadian girl from earlier as well as an American from my room. I was talking to him for a bit but with her being in the middle, it was rude to leave her out. I looked for a break in conversation to look out the window and let them converse. A while later, I looked back and they were making out. God damn it!  We were all cramped in and I retook to looking out of the window. Ten minutes of hell and on my exit I finally ditched them.

Not many things stuck me about this club but most of us were not permitted on the dance floor but kept in the VIP section for ages. I had lost those with me but met some cool Australians who I had a few drinks with. What stuck me about how warm these guys were was that they did not get jealous when I spoke to the females in their group. Also towards the end they offered to share a taxi with me even though we lived far away from each other. Another note was that they were brown and it is unique to see travellers who are other than white. I do not have to many regrets on my travels but I wish I had taken contact information.

Around four to five in the morning I left. Being in an unfamiliar area I hailed a taxi but when the driver stopped, he hesitated for a second and drove off again. I did not realize I was that intimidating. He stopped about twenty feet away to pick up the Danish girl from earlier and her two friends. Part of me wanted to share the taxi to smooth things over. Thankfully my mind was switched on and told me that there was no need for another awkward taxi ride. I managed to both hail and get into a taxi soon. I got home once again unscathed.
