So today was a little bit of a bust because it was raining ALL DAY!!! I still wanted to drive around and see a few sites even if I couldn't get the best photos. I stopped in Charlevoix first. It is a cute little town on the water. They were having a farmers market on the main street which was a little annoying because there was major traffic through here. There's also a draw bridge on the main street too, so the traffic can really pile up. I saw on TripAdvisor about these little mushroom houses that look like something a hobbit would sleep in from Lord of the Rings. These houses were down Park Street, which is just off the main street. They really are tiny! There were about 4-5 of them in the vicinity of Park Street. Obviously you can't go in them because people live there but it's nice just to drive by and see them. I went to the Charlevoix Lighthouse next, which is actually right near the mushroom houses.

After I left Charlevoix I stopped by Traverse City. I got a parking spot on the main street and walked around a little bit but it was raining too much so I ended up leaving. Which was really a shame because it seemed like there was some nice things to see around there. I drove out to Leelanau Park. It took forever to get there and it was a waste of time because it cost money to get into the lighthouse and I didn't want to pay when it was pouring down rain. That was a waste of about an hour and a half. I decided to leave and also to skip the Sleeping Bear Dunes park because there was no point in going out there in the rain.

I drove to Point Betsie Lighthouse. Another waste of time because it was closed! There is a very small parking lot (but it was closed) but you can park on the street and walk down to the beach and see the lighthouse from there. The beach was very nice (even in the rain!) There are lots of rocks here and you can also find petoskey stones if you look hard enough! It is definitely a nice place to stop if the weather cooperates!

I drove through Manistee which has cute historic buildings on the main street. Of course it was STILL raining, too much to get out of the car and walk anywhere. I kept trying to get pictures of the buildings. I would roll my window down quickly, take some pictures with my camera that I had put a plastic bag over to protect it, and then roll the window up.....but the inside of the car would still get soaking wet! I left Manistee and drove to Muskegon. This place is a DUMP! I drove out to the lighthouse. On the way, there is a factory that is completely torn looks like it was hit by a tornado. The lighthouse is a LONG LONG walk from the parking lot. It doesn't look that far away but once you start walking down the path it takes awhile. And once you get past a certain point, you are on your own as far as safety. The water was a little high and I didn't want to drown so I took a few pictures and then left.

I drove through Grand Haven and there isn't much here either. Some lighthouses are weird because they are in these parks where people camp and have RV's and you have to pay to get into the park, even if you aren't camping there!! I headed to Holland which is where I am staying for the night and hopefully the weather will clear up by tomorrow!
