I woke up today and it was STILL RAINING! I definitely picked a bad week to come visit New England. I decided to drive out to Provincetown, hoping that the rain would stop or at least slow down a little. By the time I got here, I was a total bust. It was raining and so foggy that I couldn't see anything. I wanted to go into the Pilgrim Memorial tower which has great views of the cape, but it was so foggy that you couldn't even see the tower so there was no point in paying to go in. I decided I wasn't going to waste my time here (I had already wasted the gas to get here). So I left and headed back down the cape to Buzzards Bay. There is a cool railroad bridge here and it actually stopped raining long enough for me to get a couple pictures.

I went by Plymouth and thankfully it wasn't raining. I checked out Plymouth Rock (which it is JUST a rock!) and went by the Mayflower replica and the small garden across the street. I also went to the Forefathers Memorial statue, which is huge - 81 feet tall! It has a lot of great detail on it and honors the Pilgrims. On the front of the statue is engraved "National Monument to the Forefathers. Erected by a grateful people in remembrance of their labors, sacrifices and sufferings for the cause of civil and religious liberty."  It's definitely worth seeing!

After a loooooong day of driving, I decided to head up to Maine so I could be there early in the morning. I stopped in Rockport ONE MORE TIME (I told you it's my favorite place in New England!). I was trying to get a few more pictures. There is a woman who owns a house here right on Bearskin Neck and she has all the fantastic colorful buoys outside her house. I was trying to get a few pictures of them, but I also didn't want to interrupt her and take pictures of her house if she didn't want me to. The other reason I stopped in Rockport was to get a sandwich from Rockport House of Pizza and Roast Beef. I had gotten a turkey sandwich from here on Sunday and I was craving another one!!!

I made my way up to Bangor, Maine and stayed the night. Acadia in the morning!!!
