Virginia Woolf knew her stuff.

Fortunately, we have found rooms of own (and for NOT too much money) here in Budapest. And I feel compelled to write about it, although it be not fiction.

Long story short: after riding 100+ km on the hottest day in Hungarian history, we were still pretty far from Budapest. So we decided to give the train a try. The train was confusing, late, and packed: a challenge without 80 pounds of loaded bike. Then, our hostel plans fell through......BUT.... angels everywhere.....we ended up with our very own little apartment 2 blocks from the Danube, in the heart of Pest.

If I was tickled about a laundromat with internet, imagine my absolute delight with our very own place.

We made the most of the place by pretty much hanging out 'at home' for the first couple days. We read and napped and cooked and did some serious deep cleaning of our stuff. It was awesome.

But after 2 days of relaxing we got stoked for some overdue hard-core touristing. So this morning (after a 1-hour breakfast) we set out for the Budapest thermal baths, where we swam and soaked and steamed and sauna'd and splashed and sunned for most of the day.

I was reminded of a passage from Chesterton:
The adventurers had passed through many adventures, but not one of had carried them so utterly off their feet as this adventure of comfort. They had become inured to things going roughly; but things going suddenly smoothly swamped them.
