Flag of Poland  , Southern Poland,
Wednesday, August 20, 2008

We never really intended to visit Poland, but then we realized that Krakow is within reach, and that there was no reason NOT to. So here we are.

The border crossing was even more of a non-event than the Czech-German border. We followed the meandering river valley down from Teplice, wove our way from rural village to rural village, and finally we ascended a single lane road up through a leafy woods, emerging above expansive wheat fields. At the the crest of the hill, there was a weathered sign stating the immigration regulations (none to speak of) and a map (actually a local bike map).

Oh and there was a tree.

From there, we cruised downhill to the town of Radkow, where we managed to order a pretty tasty lunch and enjoy the novelty of yet another language, cullinary, cultural and navigational challenge!
