18 hours on a bus is not as bad as it sounds. Itīs also not that great, so we were pretty glad to finally arrive in Mendoza.

Mendoza is a lovely city, with even more sidewalk cafes and tree-lined streets than Salta. The crisp autumn air and fall foliage on the trees were delightful as we explored Medozaīs many plazas and vast parks.

We were plivileged to meet 10-day old baby Jerry Giuliani Benson, first son of Billīs childhood friend Brian and Brianīs Argentinian wife Ines.

We also ventured out for a bicycle tour of the vineyards near Mendoza. This turned out to be a partial mis-adventure. We had planned out a route that would take in about 5 wineries over about 50 km. Well, the quality of the bikes on offer (and the time we invested in rendering them ride-able) required that we modify our plan. We still managed to visit 3 wineries, but probably only covered about 15 km. Fortunately, even crazy bicycles cannot detract the experience of riding along poplar-line country roads from from one smooth, round Malbec to the next dusky rich Cabernet.
