I am quite proud that I now have several verb tenses at my disposal, including three different forms of pasado. I sometimes even use the correct tense with the correct form of address. It´s sort of like playing a card game with a tenuous grasp of the rules: everyone is staring expectantly, waiting for you to finish your turn, and sometimes it takes so long to formulate my next trick that I just have to throw out a random verb tense and see what happens. Fortunately, the folks here are much more forgiving of my Spanish gaffs than the folks in Indiana with Euchre gaffs.
(Real-time observation: someone´s cell phone is ringing with the Sex in the City jingle. Gotta love globalism.)
Besides shaky language skills, we are a little taken off guard by all the freedom we are now facing with school wrapped up. Life has been pleasantly structured up to now....starting tomorrow, we are back in "What now?" mode. We got really good at this on our road trip around the western US, but that was in a place where we spoke the language, had our own transportation, and resources were plentiful.
Things are a little different down here, and its both thrilling and a little intimidating.
