4th of January
We arrived at around 3 pm and had to jump from the boot into an amazing green/blue crystal clear water. We had arrived on Pattaya beach. As we hadn't booked anything here I left Andrea at a little café with the luggage and I went looking around. The first 6, 7 resorts were not at all in our price range, so I thought I'd better look further from the beach, I suddenly found myself on a little path that after 10 min walking changed into a bit larger road. Apparently this was the beginning of the "walking street" of Koh Lipe. After a bit the little bars, restaurants and small shops started to appear. A real nice atmosphere, relaxed and off course no cars, big difference !! I went into one of the little information offices. The super friendly guy told me that if I would walk another 10 min I would be at the other side of the island, Sunset beach where there were still a few places with cheaper bungalows. So I took of straight away 'cause I saw other people asking and looking for rooms. I arrived on the beach and I must say this was the most beautiful beach and water that I have seen until now, just simply amazing ! What a shame that it is quite difficult to get here, but that saves it I suppose, though not for long I bet, this place will be the next Koh Phi Phi within 5 years ! Anyway.... I was still looking for a room and after a few other places I tried which were completely full I was starting to get a little desperate. But than we got lucky, if we would take an more expensive bungalow for tonight (2.500 bath ) we could have a room for 600 for the next following days. Great, I managed to talk him down with 300 bath for tonight and I was happy ! I walked back to get Andrea and on the way I managed to convince 2 boys on a bike with sidecar to go and get Andrea and the luggage and bring it to our bungalow for 100 bath. Great to drive on the paths at the back with them. Our bungalow was great, just built, with airco and a flat screen and a fantastic bed.
After a well deserved shower we went to the beach for great swim in this gorgeous water.
Later we went for dinner in one of the many little restaurants and walked around for a bit.I think that half of the Swedish population is to be found on these islands, incredible ! Than we walked back to enjoy our luxurious bungalow which we only had for one night, so we had to take advantage of it !! ;-)

Happy Birthday Veronique, we hope you'll have a great day ! Big kiss for you and Didier and the kids from us. We'll try to facetime you later when it's around 2 pm in Belgium.
We slept like a rose and than we went for breakfast at a place where they had wifi and started to look and book rooms for our next destinations in Malaysia. That took a bit, Andrea also chatted with her sisters in Brazil as this was the perfect time when it was around 12 pm in Rio and 9 am here ! Than we had to go back and change into another room :-(
One's done that we went back to the beach and swim and swim and swim ...... The water is so perfect here and also the temperature, it must probably be around 27, 28 degrees, so you just feel like staying in the water until you start looking like a jellyfish ! :-)
Anyway we had a great day, went for a pizza on the Pattaya beach where we and other people were sitting on bamboo carpets with cushions, just so relaxed !!
Then later we went for a drink in a place where there was wifi and tried to facetime Veronique but sorry to say we couldn't get in touch with her. We also spoke to my mom and as promised Kathleen and Fré !
Then we slowly walked back and stayed a little on our beach which was beautifully quite.

We had booked a snorkel tour today so we had to be at the restaurant next door at 8:30 where we were picked up by a bike taxi :-),(see picture) , we were with a little group of all together 8 in the long tail boat so that was perfect !
We went to Jabang, where the coral was still beautiful and big and we saw the nicest fish we had seen until now. Koh Hin Ngam, Koh Rawi, Koh Adang and Koh Yang. There are so many islands that we actually had a whole beach for ourselves to have our lunch picnic which was taken with us. Simple but nice and lots of fruit.
This really is the most beautiful part of Thailand beach and sea wise. It is not easy to get here but still I'm afraid they will find a solution like another airport near here and than this will soon be overtaken by many many tourists !!
Anyway, our group (3 Italians, 2 Dutch and a Englishman) was really nice and we had fun with them. We got back at 4 pm, had a shower and went for a banana shake next door at the Frenchman from Montpellier. Talking about Montpellier, we saw that Michel and Brigitte had tried to phone us when we were at the little islands so we phoned them back. We are planning to stay with them for a week after we fly back from Singapore the 28th. As they would not be there as they were visiting Chang Mai until the 2nd February we would look for a room nearby first. But when we talked to them they offered to stay in their rented house even when they weren't there ! So sweet ! They are incredible ! We're really happy to see them soon!
We walked around in the afternoon to see if we could find cheaper and good rooms for them as they wanted to come here in March. Also diving centers they asked for. It was really difficult to find something decent for a good price but we finally found 2 possibilities,
Than we went for dinner in a little restaurant and went to see "Scarface" which they were playing in a open café, where everybody was sitting and lying on little mattresses and cushions. Really great. Another real nice day.

Our last day here and we could have honestly staid a week longer as it is do incredibly beautiful here, but we'll be back ! :-)
We chilled for a bit at our breakfast place yin front of the fantastic water and than walked around a bit to discover other places, had lunch at a diving place of which we took their info and than walked to the other side of the island to look for a small beach a French guy of a new resort had told us.
We found it, it was pretty with a little resort and off course beautiful water and sand.
We had dinner on our beach and went to bed after having had a drink.

Had to get up at 8 as we had to be at the entrance of the island where they took our passports. They would give them back 2 hours later in the boat with the stamp. So we had time to go for breakfast. It off course all took longer, so we left at 11am with a speedboat with another 20 passengers. The boat trip was about an hour and we arrived around 12 in Lankawi - Malaysia.
