So we got back to Kuta in Bali after another ridiculous 12 hour boat - bus - boat - bus trip from the Gili Islands. It was about 9:30pm when we got there and the first ever Asian Beach Games which was being hosted in Bali had just started a couple of days before. So we checked into the first hotel we found that we could afford and jumped into the pool at about 10pm and got chatting to two Swedish girls, one of whom was a huge Johnny Logan fan, so we took the piss out of her for that! The hotel turned out to be infested with mosquito's so we checked out the next morning and found a really good hotel that we were delighted with.
Didn't do much during the day, got a hair cut, spend hours by the pool and arranged to meet Alex and Mandy that night for a session. That evening we hit Paddy's nightclub first where we got stuck into the "Arak Attacks" - Arak being a local whisky type drink, 2 litres for just under 4 Euro, happy days! After Paddys we went to Bounty nightclub where things got messy and with left amidst a bit of commotion! I'll say no more!!!
Next morning we decided to go on a one day safari trip that Alex and Mandy recommended. The safari itself wasn't that special but the great thing about it was we got to hold some animals and get our photos taken with them. We both got pictures with a 9 month old lion cub and and orang utan, it was great being able to hold them, especially the lion, but the orang utan was really playful too. There was also white tigers at the park which were really impressive but we couldn't get our photos taken with them.
That evening we met Chino and Carolina from Spain who we met in the Gili Islands, just had a few quiet drinks with them and Chino talked us into giving surfing a try the following morning, so we hit the beach bright and early and he tried teaching us how to surf. It was actually great great, much better than I expected, I stood up a few times but never for more than a second at a time! The board just shot out from under me. We'll definitely try it out again when we get to Australia. That evening we watched the Ireland Vs Australia international rules game then made our way to the airport for our flight to Singapore.

Us with Lion Cub
Needless to say we didn't do much the next day apart from sitting by the pool but in the evening we found a great cafe which must have the cheapest food in the world. It was called Bamboo Garden I think and I had a decent sized, tasty sirloin steak with chips and veg for 1.20 Euro and Lydia had a fillet of red snapper for with chips and veg for 1.40 Euro, madness!
