Before I updated the blog for Kota Kinabalu (KK) I said to Lydia "What am I going to say we did in KK?" Here goes the most exhilarating blog update ever......
We flew from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu on the island of Borneo last Monday, checked into a nice guesthouse and went for a walk. That lasted about 20 minutes as it was ridiculously hot but we did get to see that there was an Irish bar in the town and we saw the nice waterfront promenade. Spent the rest of the afternoon in an air-conditioned shopping mall and spent some time online researching the things we would like to do while in Borneo. That night we went out to see the sunset over the bay then had a drink (expensive) in the Irish Bar than had a really nice dinner in a Chinese restaurant.
The next morning we went to a travel agency to sort out our trip to Mount Kinabalu then we took a bus to the beach. Just as we got to the beach, black clouds and gale force winds rolled in and it started to rain. It rained on the bus back to KK, still raining when we were going for dinner that night, still raining after dinner and still raining the next morning when we got up. It was supposed to be the effects of a typhoon that was in the South China Sea or something.
There actually is a lot to do in and around KK so hopefully we'll get a chance to do some stuff when we get back to KK before we fly to Indonesia on Oct 2nd!
