We woke up at 5am to get the Jungle Train to Jerantut. It took 8 hours. There are supposed to be great views from the train but i wouldn't know since i slept most of the time. Karl told me it was really nice though. We arrived at around 3pm and went to the hotel where we booked the trip to Taman Negara for the next day. We then had another crappy Malaysian meal. The food has been so disappointing here especially compared to Thailand. I actually went to KFC twice with Karl because we wanted something "decent" to eat. The KFC was pretty crap too! Can't wait to get to Kuala Lumpur to get some nice food.
As we were walking we noticed a lot of vines hanging out of the trees. We couldn't resist swinging out of them. Luckily we didn't see many other people on the walk. The scenery was beautiful but the humidity was ridiculous. We saw a couple of squirrels but that was about it for the wildlife.
We only did the one day in Taman Negara because we will be doing similar treks in Borneo, hopefully with more wildlife and we have our flight booked from Kuala Lumpur to Borneo in a few days. Looking forward to getting back to civilisation.
Us on the arse breaking boat ride
The next morning we took a bus to the jetty to get the 3 hour arse breaking boat ride to the national park. The scenery was nice but we have been on similar boat trips in nearly every country so far and it's not the most comfortable form of transport.
Karl freakin out on the walkway
We finally got to the park, had some lunch and then went into the jungle to find the canopy walkway. Karl was a bit nervous! We walked for around an hour and reached the start of the walkway. Karl decided he wanted to go first so that he could just run across and not get stuck behind me when i stopped to look around. He got around 2 metres onto the walkway and froze. He couldn't go any further. He was shaking when he got off so I had to do the walk alone. The walkway was good but it was really shaky. I was a bit nervous myself in some parts especially where there were no trees beneath and you could see right to the ground. It is over 40 metres high! Met Karl at the end. He finally stopped shaking and we walked for another few hours to a viewpoint.Lydia on Canopy Walkway
