This morning we also got to know our Day Song and our Wake Up Song. The day song was "Home For A Rest" by Spirit of the West, which is a super Canadian sounding song, but absolutely PERFECT for this tour
We got to Liverpool, which is a really cool city! It's really industrial looking, but there's so much culture to it! Most of the culture part, of course, has to do with the Fab Four, The Beatles! Our first stop in Liverpool was at the legendary Cavern Club. It's a tiny little place, but very very cool. The walls were all covered in writing from people who have visited (Sadly, I didn't get to make my mark, because I didn't have a marker with me), and photos of famous people that have been/played there. It all mostly reminded me of Across the Universe, which was the movie that made me actually like The Beatles, because one of the first scenes of the movie is filmed in here.
So we sat around in there for a little while, some people had their pints, and the rest of us snapped pictures. After the club, we went back up to street level and checked out a Beatles store, full of (expensive!) Beatles memorabilia and merchandise. Bek and I were each shopping for gifts for the Beatles fanatics in our family, so this was a necessary stop! The store had a lot of cool stuff though (but if you aren't actually going to Liverpool, there is a Beatles store on Baker Street in London with basically the same stuff, FYI!)
Next stop after Liverpool was York, a really interesting old city! In our free time before supper we walked a bit of the city walls and walked around the Shambles area, a medieval street with cool buildings and it just gives you this feeling that you've been transported back in time! So many interesting little shops, like souvenir shops, and fudge and candy shops along this street... So tempting, yet I didn't buy any.
We got to our meeting spot early and nearly froze our butts off waiting for everyone. It was just really really cold in York for some reason. The fact that the Canadians could hardly handle it was a sign. It was around this point that I decided I was going to buy mittens and a scarf as soon as I found some...
We had a group supper tonight at a pub, where we were delayed getting in thanks to an epic bar brawl (which we didn't actually get to see, just the cops talking to a guy with a cut or something on his head...). Supper was yorkshire pudding, pork and mashed potatoes, which I think was my least favourite meal of the trip.
After supper we headed back to the Shambles area for our ghost walk of the city
Our bus ride out to Wetherby to our hotel was so much fun. We got on the bus and the lights were turned off except for some flashing blue lights that flashed along to the beat of Ghostbusters.
We got to the hotel rather late today, so I was just exhausted and went to bed as soon as I got to the room!
