Entry 2 of 12 | show all | print this entry

Oh wow...so much has happened on this trip so far. We spent a month in Dominical, met some great people and had an amazing first month that flew by. We've been on the go since the first of this month. We spent a few days in Manuel Antonio, it was one of the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen. Although it was expensive and really crowed, i felt like i was in Mexico or something. We spent our days in Manuel on the lounging on the beach and a day hiking in the national park, which was so awesome. We saw a few different types of monkeys, a ton of huge iguanas, pacas (which look like giant rodents), and some really pretty scenery and waterfalls.
We rented a car in Quepos and drove down the coast, passing back through Dominical. We ended up in a small town called Puerto Jimenez, which is in the Southern region of Costa Rica called the Osa Peninsula and is right on the edge of Corcavado National Park. We spent a challeging two days at the Corcavado National Park. The road to park ends two and a half miles before you actually get to the park, and we were camping at the entrance to the park. So we had to hike on the beach carrying all of our packs two and half miles. But the beach was and the park were really pretty so it was worth it. It made it all the more worth it. At Corcavado we saw some more wildlife: squirel monkeys, spider monkeys, white faced monkeys, scarlett makaws, ant eaters, and some weird racoon looking thing that kept stealing our food when we weren't looking.
Now we're back from Corcavado and staying in Peurto Jimenez for a couple days before heading even further south to Pavones... that's all for now...
