Styaing healthy is important.  Nicaragua is a 3rd world country with plenty of healthy threats and little medical care.  The biggest risk are food borne illnesses and mosquito borne illnesses like Malaria and Dengue Fever.

Meilissa and I are preparing in numerous ways:

* We got immunized for flu, hepatitis, typhoid fever and tetnus.  In addition we got perscriptions for an anti-malarial chloroquine and we are brining ibprofen.
* We are bringing neosporin, hibiclens and first aid kit for injuries.
* We are bringing imodium, hydration packets, water purifying tablets and an anti-biotic cyprofloxicin for food borne illnesses.
* We are bringing mosquito repellant, a mosquito net and long sleeve shirts and pants.
* We are only going to eat cooked foods and fruits that we peeled ourselves.  We'll stear clear of salads and pre-peeled fruits.

Also, we'll know knowing where to get (good) care (from an english speaking doctor) in each general part of nicaragua that we are staying in.  Also, we've got the name and address of one of the only somewhat world class medical fascility in the country, the Hospital Metropolitano in Managua.

With all of this prep, we'll be as ready as we can be!
