A ting shuttle dropped us off at the Turkman treehouses and we checked in. The guy who helped us book this place had said we would probably end up in a bungalow instead of a treehouse, but we asked if one was available anyway. Low and behold it was! So we stayed in "The Birdhouse" treehouse. It was wonderful. There wasn't a fan of AC but there was a great breeze.
Dinner and breakfast are included. Considering this was the situation we didn't expect that much for dinner, but were quite delightfully surprised. They had a huge buffet with various meat dishes, spreads, fruits, and lintel soup
Steve had read about the Chimera, or eternal flame, in our Turkey book and was dying to see it. We signed up for it and the bus left about 21:00. The trip took about 30 minutes to get there and after we arrived we were given flashlights and around an hour to climb up to the area where flames were located. By the time we got up to the top everyone was defiantly glad that they didn't do it during the day. What the Chimera are are flames. There is a certain kind of gas produced naturally underneath the rock that causes the flames. None of the general ways we try to put out fire work. Steve tried to blow out one of the flames, pour water on it, and spit water on it. All methods worked, but only very temporarily. Some flames were bigger than others, but all really interesting.
After returning to the treehouses we past out quite comfortably and slept soundly. The next morning we woke up and enjoyed another huge spread for dinner. The shuttle picked us up at 10:00 and we headed off to Antalya to catch our sail boat.
This was a great start to a lovely get away.
