Today was our day for exploring old town
Prague is similar to Krakow in that it has its old town and then the rest ...
The old town is the original town that used to be surrounded by a moat for protection , so the charm is is the old town where many of the buildings and history has been maintained
And this is the area we are staying in
So we were up early to do a bit of exploring on our own before joining a walking tour of the old town and the jewish sector at 11.00 this was well worth it - our tour guide was a local lady who apart from all the historical facts and unpronounceable names showed us places we would have missed and gave us ideas on good local places to eat or visit
The weather has been the coldest in 60 yrs she said ...
So after 3 hours of walking in the weather we dashed in to the nearest pub for hot wine and goulash soup - THE MOST AMAZING SOUP EVER !!
Afternoon we went back to do more exploring and spent an hour in the communist museum
Thankgoodness for our little map - the little narrow streets are like a rabbit warren - and all converge onto the Old Town Square in the centre of which is the amazing astronomical clock building and the church of St Mary.
Home to rest our weary legs and then out to find one of the recommended czech restaurants for delicious food
Hopefully tomorrow will not rain !! We will be exploring the Prague castle side of the river
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CITY
