Hi all - this is a pre-trip update. For your entertainment, I have listed a number of handy URLs that will tell you what the weather is like where I am going:

UPCOMING on Day 3 (January 2), visiting again on day 13 (Jan 12) and again on day 22 (Jan 21) - Visiting Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. There are some excellent online resources for travellers to this coast-mountain city that straddles the border between Argentina (North) and Chile (to the South). It is the gateway to the Drake Passage and the road to the Antarctic continent from which we sail.
NOTE: If you get a script error launching this site, click OK, it works!
Click here to see local Weather in Ushuaia (our embarkation point on Jan 3)

There are several landfall points along our Antarctic expedition, and I'll mention those as I go, but a helpful point of reference is the Chilean Antarctic research station "General Bernardo O'Higgins" (a wee bit o' the Irish in him, methinks).
Click here to see local Weather at Antarctica (Jan 5-10)

The second leg of my trip focussed on Patagonia, covering the Glacier national Park (Argentina) region around El Calafate and the Mareno Glacier, to El Chalten and Cerro Fitzroy. Me move southward, across the Andes and into Chile. Focussing on Torres del Paine National Park.
Click here to see local Weather in El Calafate (Our base camp for the mountain trek, Jan 11 - 21)

This trip was one of many offered by GAP adventures. Have a look sometime, there are so many great adventure tours that I wish I'd started earlier! Now I have to race to do them all!
Also, for access to my trip's dossier, you can find that at the GAP Website by clicking here

Finally, for all you civic-minded folk, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE FEDERAL ELECTION on January 23! Find out where (all you need is a picture ID) and if you don't, you can't bitch about the government! Especially if it ends up exactly the same as the last time! (Please note - I voted before I left, so don't bugger things up while I am gone)

Serge defiled your bed!!!
Just kidding. I'm sure your plaza of love is safe...for now. First thing Tracy asked is if you packed condoms. All of us with wives and kids are living vicariously through your travels so have fun and keep the updates coming!

Your Bro and family.

Ewwwww Thatīs just wrong. Thatīs a bout as nasty as that pile of penguin guano I fell into on our first landing. I am going to burn those sheets when I get home.

Re: Hello from T.O.
I am finally able to logon. The ship had email, but it was $3per outgoing address. Way to expensive, so I waiteduntil I got back to Ushuaia (today).

Im in a smoky internet cafe right now (this is the big entertainment in this town - i think the whole population is here tonight)

You know - I still have a slight ear infection. I had the ship's doctor (Vlad the Impaler) check me out, but he didnt seemed too concerned and recommended that I have it looked at when I get back to Toronto...in 2 weeks time! Thanks for nothing. Anyway, I am getting used to hearing out of my left ear only...its not so bad, I get to ignore half of the people, 100 percent of the time!!

Im busy uploading pictures and travel updates as we speak (each picture tkaes 3 minutes!) so Ill keep plodding along as best I can tonight, and hopefully Ill only be a few days behind!!

Talk to you soon
