Oh. My. God.
I fucking LOVE Bangkok. Love is an understatement. I belong to this wonderful, amazing city, I LOVE itttt!
We're staying on Khaosan Road which is like, THE place backpackers stay here. We got a room in the best hotel, ($15/night) with a king sized bed, awesome AC, a view of the madness that is Khaosan Road, a rooftop pool, a spa, massage people. We each got a fucking aromatherapy massage (1 hour long) for like, $5!!!! And that's NORMAL here. And it was sooo good. Then we went out to the road...I can't even begin to describe it unless you'd been there. It's a street that is like 4 blocks long and just the hugest market you've ever seen. Little stalls of beautiful clothes, stolen iPods (and iPod speakers, which i bought for $9!!! and they're hot pink. Hell yes), watched, hair extension stations (which I think I'll get on the way back), sunglasses, more clothes, scarves, food stalls (portable little vendors that make you pad thai on the spot, and it's the most amazing food ever...and a big plate is you know like, $1 or so), and it's UNREAL. The shopping is madness! Like anything you could possibly want, it's here. And you can bargain for everything an dit's sooooo cheap. I bought a bathing suit for $6 and a watch for $5 and it's CUTe and pink and cute. The streets are constantly full of people! It starts about noon and nothing closes til midnight, and that's when all the alcohol carts come around selling .50 cent beer, bottles of vodka for like $7, buckets (which is a bottle of hard alcohol, coke and red bull all in a bucket).
So we discovered Khaosan on Day one, got massages, met a couple guys from Toronto who we ended up partying with like all night, they were sweet (Alex and Mike). We also booked all of our transportation in Thailand, like flights to the full moon party, etc. It took a really long time...Dmanit.
Then Today (day 2) we discovered the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, 2 of the most famous places to see in Bangkok. We had to be dressed head to toe covered so they gave us these hideous skirts and it was sick. I took pictures. But it was beautiful. And we also took a Tuk tuk (weird little open doored cab/motorcyley things) and saw this huge ass Buddha and took pictures but I don't think we were supposed to. And then the stupid driver tried to take us all these shops to buy stuff so he'd get commission so I gave him a whopping 10 baht (roughly 33 cents) and told him to leave us alone. The architecture here is much better than Europe or anywhere in the world...It's breathtaking, and amazing. I can't describe it. You guys will have to see the pics once I get home to understand.
Tonight we're going to a Thai fighting show, Mauy Thai or whatever, which is suposed to be one of the craziest forms of fighing ever. I'm very stoked for this. I'll have to update on that later! My internet time is now running low so I'll write tomorrow quite likely, or the day after that!! LOVE You all!!!!
