People could not keep their eyes off of us.  Everywhere we went, people stared... they hit their tables, choked on their food, and did constant 2nd glances. Yes, we showered and our hair looked great (long story...we couldn't resist a cheap hair salon...) - yes, we were wearing oversized sunglasses - and yes, we were clearly Americans.  But really, why was this night different than all other nights?  It took us a while to figure it out too. Lesson learned today?  Donī't wear shorts in invierno (winter in Mendoza).  The breaking point was this:

Group of men: (staring, whistling, and kissing sounds)
Man number 1: Hola! Chicas!  ŋSon Frio?
Mer: No, estamos bueno... gracias.
Samantha: Mer, what did he just say to us?
Mer:  You donīt want to know.
Samantha: He asked if we were cold, didnīt he?

Ok, maybe this doesnīt sound as funny to you...but this was the moment that we realized no matter what the temperature is - (for real, it was about 60 degrees farenheit) - do not wear shorts in the winter.  Judging from the looks we were getting, you would seriously think we were Eva Mendes and Catherine Zeta Jones (there is some resemblance, isnīt there?).

Moving on from our comedy (and true) show, we did have another great day in Mendoza.  We rented bikes, picked up food for a picnic (avocado, bread, sundried tomatoes, and mushrooms...and chicken... and beer...), and biked to Parque San Martin to people watch, read, and enjoy our delicious (budget!) meal.  It ended up being relaxing and a truly delicious way to spend the afternoon.

Anyway, we leave tomorrow morning at 830am to go for a 2 day trek in the mountains.  We are really excited for the trek - it will definitely be good to get our heart rates up a bit and our adrenaline pumping like it was when we were hiking the Salkantay trail.  It will certainly take some serious mental preparation, however, as we may face blistering winds and snow filled boots.  More on that on the look out for a blog!

Ciao, ciao!

Another awesome blog post. Seem like one great adventure after another. Please be careful on your hike into the mountians. And remember, "no congele sus asnos lejos...entendido?"
