Words cannot describe how amazing this place is. I was so glad I decided to go with the girl I met in Interlaken. I ended up staying just over a week and still didnt want to leave, but it was time to move on to a new place. It was a place to go and relax and enjoy natures natural beauty. When Im in the mountains, Im happier then i could ever be, and the view of the mountains you get from 1400m up a mountain is incredible, It looked like you could reach out and touch the mountains around you, it was amazing. The first 2 days there we couldnt see much tho, it was cloudy as can be and snowing, but I didnt mind. I love when it snows, everything looks great and I hadnt seen snow since I left home in January. I spent some time writing poems, walking up to murren for food at the co-op and going on day hikes with people from the hostel. they had a free pool table so we spent lots of time playing pool and I did a lot of reading. 2 nights in a row I think we had the worlds longest game of uno. the first one was probably 1.5hrs and the next night we played for like 3, before anyone went out. it was a long game, but with about 10 of us it was a lot of fun. It was definatly a good place to relax and by far my favourite place in europe. its just so peaceful and non-touristy. it just seemed so swiss. skis left outside at night, cows and chickens on the little farms. Hans the cheese guy with his cute little cheese hut, and the best cheese I have ever tried in my life. Or Esters b+b with delicious sausage and homemade breads, yougarts and milk. its a great getaway from the sightseeing, crowds, cathedrals, castles, and everyday life. its a place of peace and place of beauty, its absolutely stunning. when I was making my decision to leave i wasnt sure where i was going to go. some american guys that were at the hostel had a car and mentioned they were going down to zermatt to check out the famous matterhorn mountain. they offered me a ride if i wanted to go. I figured why not, would be nice getting into a normal vechile again and have some comany on the road. but roads ended up being pretty bad and there was no visibilty of the matterhorn so they decided they were gonna head straight to italy. they dropped me off at a train station after we had been driving for about an hour and made sure I could get a train ticket. too bad things didnt work out but it was nice of them to offer to drop me off. I already missed gimmelwald.
