Today I joined a hotel tour to see the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Wild Goose Pagoda, and the City Wall. It was a nice, small group of seven of us with a guide. The Warriors were impressive. They are life-size terra-cotta soldiers that were buried to protect the Emperor Qi in his tomb. One of the pits was discovered in the 1970s by some farmers. Our guide explained a of the history to us. I was a true tourist today--I had my picture taken with the warriors and made into a little book! The farmer that supposedly decided to tell the government about the discovery was there to sign books about the warriors. As I was walking around the store, I turned around and saw the man jump up and start yelling. He was upset because someone wanted to take his picture!
I got another picture request today and I didn't yell! A young lady came up and spoke to me in English, but when I said ni hao she assumed I knew Chinese and began speaking really fast in Chinese. I quickly told her that I speak very little Chinese. She told me that this woman wanted a picture with me and the youg lady took it. She asked me where I was from and in Chinese I said that I was American.

This is a short post because the pictures of the warriors are what will tell the story. The Chinese government has strict rules for me accepting my personal property mailed from outside the country so I'm not going to have my camera cord to upload my pictures until I return to America. If I have time I'll find a compatible cord here so that maybe I can put them on the blog sooner.
